Duties of Area Directors

Directors for the NBSMLT

The position of Director is a two-year term, with a maximum of three consecutive terms, commencing in January of the first year. Area Directors may be appointed by the Board to assume one of the following positions:

Secretary

Treasurer

Chairperson of the Public Relations Committee

Chairperson of the Continuing Education Committee

Publication Liaison

Each Director shall be a member of the Nominating Committee.

A bilingual Area Director shall represent NBSMLT on the CCNB / Université de Moncton Program Advisory Committee.

Duties

Complete an Acceptance to a Position on the Board of Directors form at orientation.

Act as liaison between Board and Academy members

Review the Act, Bylaws, Rules and other NBSMLT documents in order to become familiar with the organization of the Society and issues related to the profession.

Review Robert’s Rules of Order and the NBSMLT meeting Rules/Guidelines to aid in understanding conduct of Board meetings.

Attend Board meetings or send an alternate (member of Academy Executive).

Submit agenda items to the Secretary and Executive Director at least two (2) weeks prior to Board meetings.

E-mail Academy report to all Board members and Executive Director at least two (2) weeks prior to Board meetings.

Submit written Annual Report to the Executive Director and the Editor of the Society newsletter no later than January 15thof each year.The Annual Report shall cover the calendar year prior to the year in which the AGM is held.

Maintain Board of Director manual for successor.

Attend Academy meetings and report on recent Board-approved activities.Issues discussed by the Board shall remain confidential until approved.

Support and promote Society activities at Provincial, National and Internationallevels.

Arrange delivery of specific Society communications as required, making use of pre- arranged hospital laboratory contacts.

Perform duties of Academy President for an interim period if required.

Represent Academy on PR and/or CE Committees, for an interim period, ifAcademy fails to elect/appoint a representative(s).

Notify the Executive Director in writing if unable to complete Board term.
