NOMINATION COMMITTEE
Terms of Reference

PURPOSE

The Nominating Committee shall be responsible for seeking suitable candidates willing to serve in the following positions:

• President-Elect
• Other Board members including Lay Representative
• Representative for Council on National Certification (CNC)
• Complaints Committee
• Discipline Committee
• Legislation Committee
• Advisory Committee on Regulation & Professional Practice
• Advisory Committee on Education of Medical Laboratory Technologists
• Point of Care Coordinator

ORGANIZATION

The committee shall consist of the six Area Directors and the Past President who shall be the Chair.

THE CHAIRPERSON SHALL

• Schedule meetings in conjunction with regularly scheduled Board meetings.

• Ensure candidates for President-Elect give written consent to their nomination.

• Ensure Board approves candidates for Lay Representative prior to submitting names to Minister of Health.

• Submit Curriculum Vitae from at least three candidates (for Lay Representative) to the NB Minister of Health and Wellness. Successful candidate shall be chosen by the Lieutenant Governor in Council (Cabinet).

• Submit candidate(s) for CNC and Committee Positions to Board for approval.

• Gather information on nominees for President-Elect to be included with ballots.

• Ensure election information is mailed to non-voting members.

• Ensure election information and one ballot is mailed to each voting member.

• Submit written reports to the Board as required.

THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS SHALL

• Actively recruit members (for vacant positions) from their area of the province.

• Ensure each nomination complies with the Act, Bylaws and Rules.
