ADVISORY COMMITTEE on EDUCATION of MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGISTS
Terms of Reference
PURPOSE
The Advisory Committee on the Education of Medical Laboratory Technologists (AC on ED of MLT) is responsible for monitoring the MLT training programs in New Brunswick and representing NBSMLT on the Program Advisory Committees (PACs) of same.
ORGANIZATION
- The Committee shall consist of the Chair, the CNC representative, the PAC representatives plus the NBSMLT CE Director.
- Members shall serve a two-year term except for the CNC representative whose term is for three years (maximum 2 terms).
- Committee members shall be appointed by the Board of Directors (BOD).
- The Chair shall be elected by members of the Committee as per Bylaw 11.03 (A).
- At least two members shall be bilingual.
- PAC representatives shall be:
NBCC – President and CNC representative
BMLS (UNB) – Registrar, President and CNC representative
CCNB & Université de Moncton – a bilingual Area Director and another bilingual member (CNC representative or an Officer of the BOD)
- In addition, members of other associations and the public may be appointed.
THE CHAIRPERSON SHALL:
- Ensure that no more than 50% of the committee is replaced in any given year.
- Notify each PAC annually (in writing) of names and contact information for NBSMLT PAC representatives.
- Schedule at least one meeting per year.
- Report to BOD as required.
- Submit Annual Budget to the Treasurer by October 1st of each year.
- Submit written annual report to the Executive Director and the Editor of the newsletter no later than January 15th of each year. The report shall cover the calendar year prior to the year in which the AGM is held.
- Notify the Executive Director in writing if unable to complete term.
COMMITTEE MEMBERS SHALL:
- Complete an Acceptance to a Position on a Committee form at first meeting.
- Review the Act, Bylaws, Rules and other NBSMLT documents in order to become familiar with the organization of the Society and issues related to the profession.
- Attend Committee meetings as required.
- Notify Chair in writing if unable to complete Committee term.
