Part- time position available NBSMLT

Deputy Registrar

New Brunswick Society of Medical Laboratory Technologists (NBSMLT)

The NBSMLT, a non-profit organization, is the Regulatory Body and Professional Society for over 650 medical laboratory technologists in New Brunswick and is seeking applications for a part-time contract position to commence October 4, 2010.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The successful applicant shall report to and take direction from the NBSMLT Board of Directors.Responsibilities include administrative support to the Registrar for membership renewal process, draft policies, revise publications, maintain website and coordinate committees.Although some of the duties may be performed off site, the Deputy Registrar may be required to work at the NBSMLT office which is located in Memramcook, in the Dieppe area. The Deputy Registrar is responsible for office functions when the Registrar is absent.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the NBSMLT Act, Bylaws and Rules
  • Maintain awareness of current issues and trends in medical laboratory technology
  • Assist in the assessment of registration applicants
  • Attend meetings as required by the Board
  • Use NB Government database (secure system) to maintain NBSMLT membership data
  • Coordinate NBSMLT committees
  • Revise publications
  • Maintain NBSMLT Website
  • Represent the NBSMLT at meetings as required by the Board
  • Administrate office duties in the absence of the Registrar
  • Draft proposals and policies as required
  • Monitor professional development program
  • Perform other duties as required by the Board of Directors

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Certificate in medical laboratory technology from the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science
  • Must meet requirements for registration with NBSMLT
  • Minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience
  • Courses in administration/management (asset)
  • Computer skills in internet plus MS Word, Excel and Access
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to independently organize and prioritize duties
  • Strong verbal and writing skills in English are essential.
  • French-English bilingualism (asset)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Part-time contract position, minimum 10 hours per week (hours may vary)

Three month probationary period

Salary negotiable depending upon qualifications and experience

Salary range:$ 25-28/ hour depending upon qualifications and experience
